The Kahlil Gibran Educational Fund (KGEF) is a not for
profit organization that was established in 1989 by the Arab-American community
of Westchester County, New York.
The mission of the organization is twofold. First, we
aim to encourage the young people of our community to pursue higher education
and to become contributing members of the community by providing annual
scholarships to a select number of students and by publicly honoring the
academic efforts of students of Arab descent. Secondly, KGEF functions to
remind Arab-Americans, as well as others in our community of the valuable
contribution that immigrants from the Arab world have made in the United States
and of our rich heritage.
The wealth of our culture and people is reflected in
life by Kahlil Gibran, the great poet, artist and humanitarian who is respected
and revered throughout the world. It is for this reason our fund was
established in his name.
is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with
it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the
and take alms of those who work with joy.”
– Kahlil Gibran
